Different to previous models, the PM1X silent mute does not extend as much beyond the surface of the bell, improving its balance during play. The design now also disassembles into a compact size that is much easier to store, a great feature for travelling musicians. To achieve the desired pitch, resonance and playing feel, Yamaha has added an adjustable rod to enable players to adjust the mute head. This also enables players to use the accessory with Bb, C, Eb and F horns.
