The Tama S.L.P Dynamic Kapur Shell Pack features 6-ply, 5mm shells on both the rack toms and the floor toms, whilst the bass drum features a thicker 7-ply, 6mm shell for a fatter, heavier tone. The result is an incredibly resonant warmth with dry sustain and controlled overtones and a unique sound you won't find anywhere else. Kapur, when compared to other popular tonewoods used in drums, is a harder wood with a tighter grain. The results in a more resonant tone with increased sustain and a drier tone overall. The shells are finished in a stunning gloss black kapur burst finish.
The S.L.P Dynamic Kapur Shell Pack features Tama's Sound Arc Hoops. These are 2.3mm triple flanged hoops that are uniquely bent inwards, allowing the natural tone of the kapur shells to resonate more freely. This results in additional resonance, projection, attack and sustain, generally adding to the quality of the tone. Since kapur is a hard tonewood and already has good projection, the result of combining the wood with the hoops is an incredible projection and attack, with singing overtones and extended sustain.
The S.L.P Dynamic Kapur Shell Pack features Tama's newly designed Direct Flexi-Mount, featuring a two-piece structure that instead of increasing resonance, this system controls the vibration of the shell whilst allowing the shell to resonate more freely than traditional direct-to-shell mounts. The mount is made of a plate that is mounted to the shell and another piece that secures the L-rod of the tom holder/stand. The two sections are connected with a steel shaft, allowing for some horizontal play. This is what controls the vibration of the shell, allowing for increased resonance, projection and tone, as well as providing a smooth decay for a clear sound.
