Every Sugar Percussion snare shell is sourced from a single tree to provide an unmatchable finish and tone. The stave shells are organised according to grain, creating a smooth visual flow – you won’t find a more authentic looking, natural finish. These shells are then nurtured, built, and finished by hand to guarantee the best aesthetics and performance. That’s not all though. The shells are rubbed down by hand with polyurethane, before being outfitted with high-quality hardware and Sugar Percussion’s own proprietary lugs. This creates a protective layer for added durability, as well as providing a subtle shine to the natural finish.

Stave shells consist of vertically oriented blocks that are bevelled and glued to create a cylinder. This allows the grain to run in its natural direction to provide the perfect aesthetic for any natural finish drum. Not only does this construction improve the aesthetics of the drum, it also helps provide the best possible sound. Stave shells are more resonant that ply shells and provide fewer overtones for a more direct, accurate tone. These shells are also impressively loud, making them perfect for heavier styles.

Trick drums throw off for quick timbre changes

The Sugar Percussion Mahogany 14 x 6'' Snare Drum is fitted with a Trick Drums three-step throw off and PureSound snare wires.
