The pickup and 9V active preamp work perfectly to preserve the basses natural sound whilst still offering a platform for you to adjust the controls so that it works for you. The controls include volume, high and low cut/boost, which allow you to find your own sound within the array of sonic possibilities available.
Crafted With Basswood Body
The basswood body means that the Ray5 is lightweight and is easy to rock with during those long gig nights or studio sessions. The tonality of the Ray5 offers good dynamics and excellent definition, perfect for creating a versatile and defined performance. The tone produced by the basswood is not too bright yet not too warm and this is therefore ideal for players who prefer to use their amp to create their sound rather than relying on the characteristics of the tonewood.
Smooth Maple Neck & Fingerboard
The Ray5 features a smooth maple neck which enables fast and comfortable playing. The already smooth feel of the maple is intensified with the silky touch of the satin finish which looks and plays great. The maple neck yields bright and twangy tones with amazing clarity and the 6-bolt on neck is paired with a maple fingerboard which work together to offer tightness with snappy attack. The bolt on neck offers excellent strength which will stay in position so you don't have that worry whilst you are rocking out hard. Though if the neck isn't sitting quite right, you can easily adjust this without needing to remove it.
