The sound produced by the xylophone is well rounded and suited to group ensembles. The enjoyable tone and ease of playing also makes it great for classrooms. At a length of 87cm, the xylophone can be stored away when not in use. Combined with the 10kg weight, the xylophone can be transported when necessary. The durable design allows for heavy hitting, another plus for educational use. Although a full sound, the xylophone can be played for long periods without causing ear fatigue.
The Percussion Plus Alto Diatonic Xylophone offers a C diatonic scale from C28 to A49, the lowest in the Percussion Plus Xylophone range. Extra B flat and F sharp note bars mean that the user can perform in C major, F major or G major. The same precision tuning Percussion Plus use across their professional range has been used to create the xylophone, providing quality, accurate note bars.
The xylophone comes with two mallets, allowing you to begin playing immediately. The included mallets have a hard surface, designed to create a large, full tone. Switching to soft mallets will affect the sound and allow you to further explore the sounds available from the xylophone. Percussion Plus also create multiple xylophones in higher registers. A separate xylophone containing sharps and flats can be added to make the bass xylophone a full chromatic scale (PP028).
