Maple has been a favourite drum shell wood of both drum manufacturers and players for a long time. Its boosted low end and smooth mids and highs help it sit well in just about any style of music. Because of this, you often find maple being used in very high-end kits and being used by some very well-respected players. Pearl’s Decade series 6-ply shells are built from ultra-thin maple plies with hand-treated bearing edges to ensure you’re getting the same performance and tones as those high-end kits. Each section of ply is cross laminated and features Pearl’s superior shell technology, resulting in a thin shell that reacts quickly to the stroke and gives you the ultimate air chamber.
Each shell is carefully manufactured to achieve the ultimate air chamber. The shell materials are milled to precise thickness with overlapping scarf joint seams to create an air-tight fit. The plies are saturated together using Pearl's AcoustiGlue that dries to the same consistency as the wood for maximum resonance. At the end of the process, the shells are shaped in high-temperature moulds with 1000 PSI of hydraulic pressure. You can rest assured each shell is formed to perfection, giving you the purest tone and maximum shell strength.
A set of Pearl 830 Series hardware is included with the Pearl Decade Maple Drum Kit. The BC-830 boom stand, C-830 cymbal stand, and S-830 snare drum stand all feature infinitely adjustable Uni-Lock tilters for pinpoint positioning. Robust 1’’ diameter base tubes and 7/8’’ diameter centre tubes with sturdy double-braced tripods provide excellent rigidity and stability. The H-830 hi-hat stand features swivel legs that accommodate double pedals. Two P-930 drum pedal are included which combines the styling and performance of the Demon Drive pedal with the Eliminator interchangeable cam technology for the ultimate power, speed and control.
