Designed for its sound. The Hartwood Double Top Classical features a top crafted from two pieces of solid cedar, with a thin layer of Nomex placed inbetween. Nomex is a Kevlar-like polymer, produced in a honeycomb-like hexagonal structure, which adds additional resonance and reduces weight. This creates a significantly improved tone compared to a single-top guitar. The result is an instrument with superior resonance and responsiveness.
The increased strength also means that the guitar's bracing is no longer essential to structural integrity – instead, it's used in specific positions in order to enhance the tone and timbre of your guitar. All this means the Hartwood Libretto Double Top Classic creates a large sound from a small body – performing notes with crisp attacks and articulate definition. Ideal of delicate finger-picking, powerful strumming, and everything in-between.
Authentic and organic tone. The Hartwood Double Top Classic features a bone bridge saddle and nut. By utilising these traditional components where the strings contact the instrument, it ensures the best of a traditional tone exemplified by innovative tonewoods. Additionally, the guitar's feel hasn't been neglected either. The Ovangkol neck has been finished with a very fine open-pore lacquer. This allows the wood to breathe, while giving you a smooth and soft feel in your hand. You can perform naturally and comfortably, letting you focus on creating your best music.
Exceptionally strong. The strength of the double-top body is complemented with titanium tuning machines. A metal typically used in aerospace and medicine, it helps retain reliable and stable tuning with long-lasting reliability. Whenever you want to perform, your guitar will be ready.
"Well constructed, with a very nice matte finish. Intonation is excellent and the tone is bright, with a particularly strong bass.
"For a student looking for a guitar with more volume and projection, this must be a contender." Peter Batchelar - a founding member of European Guitar Teacher's Association UK
