For the WL-50, Boss used the high-performance wireless technology that debuted in the Katana-Air, providing players with incredible sound quality and a wide dynamic range. The system runs at a 2.4 GHz frequency band and automatically selects the optimum channel, delivering a rock-solid audio performance with absolutely no chance for the signal to drop out. The WL-50 also features an ultra-low latency of 2.4ms, ensuring players receive no lag between playing a note and hearing it.
The addition of a cable tone simulation recaptures the natural capacitive effect that's produced when a guitar or bass with a passive pickup is connected to a guitar cable. This slight effect adjusts the level of treble the guitar produces, adding a warm characteristic for an ultra-realistic wired performance. The receiver offers the choice between two different cable lengths -short or long-, or the option to bypass it completely.
Unlike other wireless systems which have you fiddling with channels, frequencies, and other requirements, the WL-50 only requires you to dock the transmitter in the receiver for 10 seconds. This automatically sets the system up with the optimum connection and lets you simply plug in and start rocking out. While the transistor can be recharged via a micro USB, the receiver is powered by an AC adaptor or two AA batteries, letting you take the wireless system anywhere. The receiver can also be used to power addition stompboxes if connected to an AC adaptor, making it the perfect addition to any pedalboard.
